Looking for a specific Journal title? Try the Lightner A – Z List.
Just the other day an ASAP student told me that she was looking for a specific journal. I asked her if she had checked Lightner’s A – Z List. This is a very useful tool and now it’s even better from home!
- If you go to Lightner’s website, you will see a gold “Find It” box. Click on the link for the A-Z list of Library Journal Holdings.
- The term “Holdings” means that the item is in or “held” by Lightner – this could be the actual journal or an electronic version. In the drop down menu on the left side of the screen, you will see “Title begins with.” If you know the exact, correct title, just type it in and hit Search. If you know just a few words of the title, click on the drop down menu and select “Title contains all words”, type in the words and hit Search.
- The computer will then tell you if Lightner has a journal with those title words. If Lightner has the journal in electronic form, you will see a link to the particular database, for example Academic Search Premier.
- Click on the link to go straight to that particular database. The computer will prompt you to login using your Keuka e-mail user name and password.
- Once you login, the computer will take you to the database and you will be able to search the journal that you searched for in the A-Z list.

Here are shortcuts to common databases that you will see in the A-Z list:
•ABI/Inform is within Proquest: Covers business, finance, economics and industry.
•Academic Research Library is within Proquest: Covers a broad range of social sciences, science, humanities and law.
•Academic Search Premier is within EBSCOHost: Provides full text for nearly 4,650 scholarly publications covering social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, medical sciences and more.
•Business Source Premier is within EBSCOHost: Provides full text for nearly 8,800 journals covering business, management, economics, finance, banking, accounting and more.
•CINAHL is within Silverplatter: The Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, also known as CINAHL covers over 500 journals in the fields of nursing and allied health.
•Heath Source: Nursing/Academic Edition is within EBSCOHost: Provides access to over 550 scholarly full-text journals.
•Journals@Ovid Ovid Full Text is within Ovid Gateway: Has full-text access to AJN, Clinical Nurse Specialist, JONA, Nurse Educator and Nursing Research.
•LexisNexis Academic is within Lexis/Nexis: Has full-text articles in the areas of news, business, legal research, medicine and reference.
•Proquest Health Management is within Proquest: Covers administrative aspects of the medical industry such as insurance, finance, labor and laws.
•Proquest Newspapers is within Proquest: Covers 27 national newspapers, including New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
•PsycARTICLES is within EBSCOHost: Full-text of 46 journals published by the American Psychological Association and allied organizations.
